Kathie:

Welcome today is something different off the cuff, a video from yours truly, Kathie, and I'm gonna talk about some things that have been going on in my life and my business and how I'm going to be shifting gears. For a very long time. I've always been an advocate for people who are getting bullied. Let me give you some examples. I, advocate for people who are being influenced wrongly in the marketplace. I talk about Amy Porterfield and her wrong influence and how she doesn't give anything of substance, but she charges high, high dollar. I blog about this. I will have a link to those articles in the show notes and description below. In Reality Transurfing......... About five years ago there was drama off the charts. In Reality Transurfing.......... Reality Reality Transurfing.......... Is a book written by Russian quantum physicist Vadim Zealand. I use a lot of his concepts in my coaching. And you hear me talk about it often. And what happened was several years ago, Vadim Zeland was a big proponent for his book and his concepts, and he blacklisted people who were talking about it. And he blacklisted Aaron Doughty. And Aaron Doughty is the person I found. For reality Reality Transurfing.........., and then came in. Renee Garcia and Renee Garcia made herself super important, something you don't do in Reality Transurfing.......... But I'm quite sure she used the principles for her instead of against her because she does know the concepts of the book, but she bullied people and then. Herself ended up getting blacklisted as well, and so I blog about that and I will have a link in the show notes and description below to that. Why do I do that? I've always been an advocate for people who are getting bullied or pushed around and maybe don't have the power to do anything about that. You are listening to Kathie's Coaching podcast. I'm your host, Kathie Owen. Let's go back to my childhood. Because of my childhood. I have to work at being good at communication. Here's why, and I have to make this disclaimer right here. To my mom because I apologize if this hurts you. I know it probably doesn't, but my mom is like my biggest fan. She watches all of my content or most of it anyways, and I apologize to my mom because, let me just say this. I'm grateful I was raised the way I was raised because if I wasn't, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I wouldn't be as self-aware, as emotionally intelligent. I wouldn't be understanding of things that I'm good, that I talk about, that I do, and I advocate for in today's world. So when I was a child, I would stand up to my mom and I would get physically hit, physically hit because I was standing up to for myself, and therefore it made me repress emotions, suppress emotions. I was also very, very unable to communicate how I felt and. Because of that, it took me many, many years. I'm now as the same age as the Super Bowl, and I'm very proud of that because all of those years of work, I built the muscle to stand up for myself and also advocate for others who are being hurt like I was as a child. I am also a huge cheerleader, huge motivational person because of all the things I went through. I went through a custody battle that lasted 14 years. I had my house stolen from me in 2018 by a judge who used the system to bully me out of my house. It was crazy. That's a whole nother story for a whole nother ball game, but. This does has everything to do with the shift I'm making in my business. January 23rd. 2023 stands as a day where I was bullied in my workplace and it blew my mind because I had just gone and redid the gym. I. Fixed it up to be huge, fantastic functional fitness gym. I am the corporate fitness and wellness director at this company in, in the Houston area, and I'm very proud of my job. I love my job. I have a really fun and cool job. I would do it for free if that was possible. What I do is I train people. I work out with so many people at work and I teach them fitness concepts. I've been a personal trainer for 20 plus years now, and I understand fitness to a t. I've been a trainer for a long, long time. So because of the type of work that I do, I hear everything that goes on in the company. Sometimes I don't wanna hear it because it's so much drama. There's so many things, but people need to vent their feelings and they have no place to do that. The company I've worked for, I've been their fitness and wellness director for 11 plus years. And I am extremely loyal. That's another thing, another quality I have. I'm very, very loyal, but I'm loyal. Not to a fault. I'm loyal to a place where. I will advocate for those who are being hurt to those that are being mistreated. And on January 23rd, 2023, I was mistreated. There was a lack of leadership and that's where this company is crumbling. And it's sad because I was. Bullied into something through human resources. It's too much to go into right now and I can't really talk about it because it's not yet a scar, even though that was a year ago, but it's still not a scar. But on this day. I cried at work, I cried at work, and that does not happen to your girl. I don't cry because I love my job. I love what I do, and I come from a place of integrity and loyalty. So let's go back a little bit and let me explain the mission of this company that I work for. Their mission is an acronym. It's called Life Loyalty Integrity. Fun and energy. This has gone away and I'm very, very sad to say that because I love this company. I want the best for them. I am extremely loyal. So the other day, here's an example of how we are not living up to our values. The other day I was at a restaurant and somebody knew I worked for this company and they come up to me and said, Hey, what's going on with your company? There's all of these ads for jobs in Indeed. And I'm like, I knew exactly what he was talking about. I knew about the jobs, I knew about the issues that were going on. And I said, oh, we're just growing, but that's not the truth. And this person, an outsider, knew that, holy crap, I've hit smack dab in the face with a reality that's going on in my world. And it blew my mind because I am extremely loyal. But at the same time, I've tried to bring these things to their attention, to no avail because they're so stressed out and they're so worried, and they're so concerned, but they're concerned about the wrong things. They're not concerned about their people. The people are the ones that make the business. I have solutions for that. I'm a corporate wellness director. I have tons of experience in this and I can go back. 30 years ago I used to work for a company that did personality assessments. For new hires. I reached out to this company the other day and I told him about my problems and he said, well, you, it sounds like you don't have any authority. And I'm like, I know, but here's what I'm doing. I'm gonna take what I know and I'm going to start a consulting business and I've already done it. I've already started my consulting business. If this company that I work for wants my solution's, great, I will stay there. I love what I do. I love the team members. They're like my family. That's another thing that I see happening because there's a, there's a, a crack in our family. And when I talked to this gentleman yesterday, he, he told me you know, there's no such thing as a functional family. And I said. I know that. I know that. But there is such a thing as helping your family members where they're having problems, and that is where my solution comes into play. And I believe that the hiring process is wrong. So we're hiring, I wanna say 20 people right now. What's gonna happen? They're not following anything, any kind type of protocol. They hire them because they look good. They hire them because they have the right answers. This is not good. You are just building more toxic. In this culture. For example, you'll have people who come to work. And on their resume, they said they did certain things, but they'll go to HR and go, oh, I can't do this because, um, it's, I, I, I don't do these type of things. I could get hurt. Wait a second. So HR goes, sure, okay. You don't have to do that anymore. And what happens is. This person's not doing that, but they were hired to do it. Where in the is the crack. There's a crack there. There's no team. There's no, no camaraderie anymore, and the what little camaraderie is left has lost safety. They have lost trust. And I'm talking to you now in February of 2024. I am an advocate for people who can get hurt, people who don't feel safe, and I'm hearing how people are not safe, and I have solutions for the safety To transfer everything over, one solution would be to start analyzing these people's personality with the tests and start analyzing your new hires and hire superstars. What's happening is it's not a happy team. It's not a happy place, and when your team members don't feel safe. They take that home with them, it causes more problems and therefore it breaks my heart. So I recently joined Joseph Rodrigues Mastermind. We had our first meeting last week. I found my strengths. Number one, I'm a great cheerleader. I'm a great motivator. He mentioned my name several times in the meeting. He said that things that I was doing, he was, I'm being a model for other people in this mastermind, Joseph Rodrigues is my mentor. I admire this man. I admire his integrity. I admire his loyalty. I admire the fun that we have. I admire his energy. Did you see that? Wait, wait. Did you see that? I just went back to the mission statement of the company. I work for the life, loyalty, integrity, fun and energy. I possess those things, but the company no longer does. Do I wanna change it? Absolutely. And I'm trying, I'm trying. If you're watching this, I'm trying. What happens with this team is they're extrinsically motivated, and you may have heard me talk about this on my channel. What does that mean? We have contests all the time. The owners of the company are very, very generous. They, they have these contests and they are extrinsically motivated, extrinsically motivated, because what they do is they'll have, um, one of my least favorite ones is this, uh, they have a scavenger hunt. And so what happens is they will place these eggs all over campus and you have to go take a selfie with the egg and they have the hints and you go find it. And the first person that wins wins a hundred dollars. If you wanna see who's extrinsically motivated in your company, do this Which kind of makes me sad because you would be able to find who's extrinsically motivated. Instead. Change those rewards to an intrinsic motivation. How can you do that? Well, it's funny you ask, because that goes right into my March calendar. So my March calendar is all about kindness in the workplace. I create a calendar every month for the team to help motivate them in certain things. Last month was procrastination busting. The month before in January was setting goals. This month is kindness In the workplace. I host what is called Wellness Days at this company and the wellness days is just where we have our pharmacy. We also have me to answer questions about health and fitness, and we also have a med spa coming in to help with injections, like B12 shots and things like that. All of this is helping. To enhance productivity of the team, March 12th is write a thank you card or something like that in, in the, the prompts for the day. By the way, if you want the March calendar, a link to that will be in the show notes and description below. But it's cute. I just create different prompts and I have different aspects about it. But let me invite you to do something that will intrinsically motivate you. So what I've done for the team is I've started a contest and we're gonna write a little thank you story. And stick it in the jar. And we're going to either share these stories, maybe in an email, maybe in a newsletter, and we're gonna find what people are grateful for. Sadly, I don't think it's gonna be their job, and that breaks my heart because that's not the way it. It should be at work. But what's gonna happen is you're gonna find where somebody is intrinsically motivated, where their personalities lie, and you don't even have to put your name on this story. It could be totally anonymous. You're gonna find creativity. You're gonna find things that you didn't know your team had, and that's where. I come in, that's where a corporate wellness consultant can help your company. Having said all that, that's what I'm up to right now. I just bought the URL Happy teams.co where I'm gonna host my website for my corporate wellness consulting business, as well as I'm coming up with all kinds of fun things, um, just to help with these companies that I do end up working with, which I am so excited about. You ever hear the saying, happy wife, happy life. I'm sure you've heard that before. Well, my motto is, happy team. Happy dream, happy business. Happy. Culture, isn't that what you're looking for in your job, in your life, in your world? I mean, we spend more time at work than we do at home most times. And if we're doing that, won't, don't you wanna have fun? Don't you wanna feel safe, at least at work, and don't let it spill over into your home life. I do and I am on a mission to make that happen. I believe it can happen at the company I work for, but there's gotta be changes. I love what I do. And I will be a bright spot as long as I'm there. Moving forward, I'm gonna use my resources like this Mastermind. I've already been referred to books that have already changed my life, even though I only found out about this book two days ago. Chet Holmes book, I, I can't remember the total name of it'cause I'm, I'm not even halfway through this book, but it's awesome. And then Simon Sinek's Information Leaders Eat Last. I will have links to both of those in the show notes and description below. That's where my content is going moving forward. So I want you to think about something. You may say, oh, Kathie's going away from coaching. I'm not gonna get information. I'm not gonna get the content I'm used to. Oh no, you still will. Content on the same things that I've been teaching all this time. What do I mean by that? I'm still gonna be talking about fitness. I'm still gonna be talking about reality Reality Transurfing..........'cause those concepts are used every day. I'm still gonna be talking about team building and motivation and habits because that builds a healthy, happy culture. And when you are healthy and happy, it spills over into your life. It's a ripple effect. And that's where I wanna make a difference in my YouTube channel, in my coaching business, in my consulting business, that's what I stand for. And um, on my business cards, it says, building healthy and happy teams one heart at a time. So if you think that this is not for you. It is. And if you're still watching this, then I promise you it is because if you're not watching this, then it's not for you, and I'm not for everybody. I don't even wanna be for everybody. I just want to make a difference in my little corner of the world, and I don't need the numbers to help me. I don't need the numbers to make that difference. Count all I need. Is you and your support. Alright, that's my episode for today. I trust that you found it helpful. If you know someone who can benefit from this, please share it with them. And until next time, I will see you next time. Peace out and Namaste. Can you see my little sidekick? He's over there, see him? Um, he's snoozing. He thinks he's gonna go to work with me today. Uh, I hate to tell him, but he's not.'cause I've got stuff I have to do that he can't be part of. So today's not going with me. Are you? Sorry. Sorry, little guy. Okay. Have a great day. Bye. Say, say Weezer. Say bye. He says, have a nice day. That was fun. I'm just saying. For example, the other day I was at dinner, people know I I don't know.
