It's time for a change, you know it, but you've had so many different approaches come to that. You're not sure which way to go. Yeah, I get it been there. And today we're going to talk about finding that answer that is already inside of you.

Your listening to the Stop the Mind Screw Podcast. I'm your host, Kathie Owen, Certified Fitness Trainer and Life Coach, since 2002. On this podcast we talk about fitness and insights and perspectives and habits and changing your life. And also of course, Reality Transurfing. But today we are talking about change. And change and making change and your life.

I have a Certified Fitness Trainer for 20 years now, as you already know, and as you might imagine, I have encountered many, many, many, many, many people who want to make a change in their lives.

And I just came across this new process called motivational interviewing and it's been studied on high degrees and. It is very powerful. And what it does is it asks the client questions that I'm going to go over today and it helps them see, oh, wow. I already know what I need to do. And I already know how I need to do it.

Why is this good? This is actually great because there is so much information out there in this world that you can get over with. And not ever take action. And this happens to any kind of change you want to make in your life?

Well, if there's so much information, what do I, where do I need to start, Kathie? What do I need to do?

Well, first of all, you have lived in your body and know your body longer than anybody. I'm in my fifties. So as many years as I've been alive, that's how I know. And I know my body, I know what I need and what is wrong. But so often we lose touch with that because of information overload and because there's just too much going on and we're not paying attention.

But with this motivational interviewing, you can start to find your answers within. I just created a new fitness download that will guide you through this process. Step by step by step, and I'll have a link to it in the show notes below it's under my fitness on my website, www.kathieowen.com/fitness

That's how you sign up for that. But guess what? There are four questions we're going to go over today that I do ask in this little download and that help guide you through this process.

Number one, if you decided to make this change, Why would you want to change it? Now, people come to hire me as a personal trainer either because their family has pushed them to do it, or they just don't feel right.

Or their doctors told them they need to get into an exercise program. I mean, I have infinite number of reasons why I've been hired to be somebody's personal trainer. But you know, your body better than anybody else. You really do know why you want to do this. If you want to start exercising, why, what would, what would be the benefits for you?

That's the first question.

Number two question is what are the three best reasons for you to make this change? Maybe it's because you want to play with your grandkids and you want to watch them grow up, or maybe it's because you are borderline diabetic and you want to start watching what you eat and taking better care of yourself.

Find three. Very good, very strong reasons why you want to make this change. And a lot of times those are going to be obvious because your doctor told you, you need to start exercising, or because you just have bad headaches all the time and you just know there's something you need to do for it. And you need to make a change in your life, probably your diet or your exercise or something like that.

Okay. The third question I would ask on a scale of one to 10 is, how important is this to you? How important is it to you? A lot of times people hire me as their trainer because their family has forced them to do it or their doctor forced them to do it. Well, wait a second, step back and understand why it's important to you.

Why this change in your life, whether it's fitness, maybe it's not fitness. Maybe it's something you need to start doing and stop procrastinating. How important is it? 'cause that important factor is going to play in this. For example, if your importance for this change is a two or a one. Well, first of all, you're probably not even listening to this podcast, but second of all, if it's a three-year four or a five, then you have some reasons why you want this.

And it is someone important to you. Another question you can ask that's along the same lines is how would you feel on a scale of one to 10? If you started doing this, how do you think you would feel? And most likely you can go back in your life and look at times when you felt something that felt right. And it felt good.

That leads me to the fourth question. Where are you right now? On a scale of one to 10. Well, in my example, in my download, my person, my client was a five and I quickly asked her, why are you a five and not a three? She said, well, I have. Exercise before I actually ran a 5k not too long ago.

And I was like, okay, that's good, but why are you not a three? Well, cause I have these things that I have done before. All right. We're getting to the meat of it because when we find that we find actually what she likes, number one, because as a personal trainer, I can tell you. What you really need to do, and I can design a workout for you, but if you don't like going to the gym and you don't like lifting weights, or you don't like being in the gym atmosphere, you're not going to like the workout I designed for you and you're not going to do it.

But if you've run a 5k before I can show you how to train cardiovascular-wise and start exercising that. And start finding that way because you've done it before in the past. Or if you're your goal is nutrition. I have a friend that, that does meal planning and she, she. That's what got her on track with her nutrition.

She did meal planning and she did meal prepping and she did it with her whole family everybody got involved and they prepped their meals for the week together. And it was a fun event and that's where she found it. Okay. Well, Maybe I'm a seven and I know I can do this. I've done it before in the past. So that's what I'm going to try to do.

So go and download your helper and start working on your process because your change in your life, we all are changing or changing and evolving over time. You've been in your body for so many years, you know, your body better than anybody else. You also know your attitudes, you know, your potential. You also know that where you've not been taking action here.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Action burns the bridge of procrastination. I'm going to repeat that action burns the bridge of procrastination, and we want to burn that bridge and watch it wash away. Action will get you there and you don't need to take a ginormous step. You only need to do 1% better today than yesterday.

And you know, you can look back on times in your life when you have succeeded at something, when you have made a change. And when you did find the right attitude, the right mindset, the right workout for YOU. That my friend is where the answer is, and that is where the change will happen. All right. That's my episode for today. I hope you liked it. If you know someone who can benefit from this please share it with them. And until next time, I'll see you next time. Peace Out and Namaste.
