You're listening to the Stop the Mind Screw Podcast. I'm your host, Kathie Owen Certified Fitness Trainer and Life Coach since 2002 transforming lives and magic fashion teaching Stop the Mind Screw Process today, we are talking about thought and purpose from the book As a Man Thinketh by James Allen.

I want to start with this quote right here. And it is from this chapter. I will have a link in the show notes to this exact chapter, cause it's just a short, quick page. But remember we are talking about thought and purpose. Your thoughts are so powerful. Your thought habits are so powerful. We talk about those all the time and stop the mind.

Screw here's this. "They who have no central purpose in their life, fall easy prey to petty worries, fears, troubles, and self-pity all of which are indications. Of weakness," James Allen, as a man thinketh central purpose. What does he mean by that? You know, a lot of times we don't even understand our purpose.

We don't understand where we are going. And as we've been talking in the podcasts lately, we've been talking. Subconscious thinking, subconscious programming and purpose and drifting attention drifting disorder and drifting, according to Outwitting the Devil l by Napoleon Hill. And there is so much to understand when it comes to this, but wouldn't life be easier if we don't fall prey to petty worries?

Fears troubles and self-pity, those are all indications of weakness and it really is easy if you stay disciplined and focused and that's what stop the mind screw teaches and a roundabout kind of way. But I have a story to share with you this week, because this may help you understand that it happens to everyone.

Because it does.

So my car broke down this week and it was an odd thing that happened to it. You know, I just finished paying my car off. And as you know, when you do that, you're bound to have problems because, oh my gosh, there's excess potential now because I have paid off my car anyways. I shifted gears and it just stopped shifting gears.

Fortunately, I was in my parking lot at my office and I was in a place where it wasn't going to stop traffic. I wasn't going to get stuck somewhere. And it was just a simple problem at the moment. So I called AAA and they came over and they, the guy just opened the hood. He knew what it was and he put, pulled the adjustment, just like that.

However, you know, My boyfriend, Eddie happened to be there at the same time because he was coming to pick me up and he knows how to work on cars and the guy, uh, AAA showed him what he did. And Eddie's like, you're not driving that home because your car could likely just fall out of gear and you could burn up your transmission.

And I'm like, oh, okay. So we went to go look for the part long story short. We found the part at the dealership because it's a recall item. And they, uh, as you know what, the way the world nowadays, you can't get car parts very easily. So they have the old part that they put on the car because it just wears out over time.

It was, he, he even showed me where it broke off. It was crazy. So I'm very fortunate that I have this person in my life that understands all this stuff because he fixed it. And one day, most people would have had to wait many, many days, but over night I was, I woke up in the middle of the night and I was thinking, talk about petty, worried.

My thought habits started going down the drain. I started thinking, oh my God, what if that happened at the gym parking lot? The other day, I would have stopped all this traffic or worse. What if it happened at the carwash? Cause I go through the carwash about once or twice a week. And when you get out of the car wash, you got to take your car out of neutral and to drive.

Right there. There's no way for cars to get around you. I would've stopped everybody for, until AAA could have come, or I don't know what they would have done. Cause you couldn't even roll the car because it wouldn't go into gear. So back to my sleepless night, I was having petty fears. I pulled back on something that I've learned from.

Abraham Hicks or Esther Hicks. You can Google it on YouTube and listen to some of her talks because she talks about the 17-second rule. Uh, meditation. And I started focusing on that and I started, you know, expanding my thoughts to a better place so that I wasn't in that victim mentality. I mean, why was I even worried?

I had everything going for me. My world was taking care of me because I usually think in those terms. So the next day we had trouble finding the part and Eddie texted me and he goes, no luck, no luck. And you know, that was a one o'clock. And I, I said, I'm not going to stress out about this. I'm just going to let it go.

And then sure enough, a couple hours later, he's like, I found it I'll be there. Everything worked out, but it's easy to get swept into those. Petty worries, fears, troubles, and self-pity, and those are all indications of weakness. And we don't want to go there. We want to stay in a place of purpose, a place of strength.

It James Allen says in here, he says doubts and fear should be rigorously excluded. They are disintegrating elements, which break up this straight line of effort, rendering it crooked and effectual and useless thoughts of doubt and fear never accomplish anything and never can. They always lead to failure.

Let me say that again. They always lead to failure. So what do we do? Perfect. Energy power to do, and all strong thoughts, cease when doubt and fear creep in. So what do we do? He goes on to say this doubt and fear are the great enemies of knowledge and he who encourages them, who does not slay them Swartz, thwarts himself at every step.

He who has conquered doubt and fear has conquered failure. His, every thought is allied with power and all difficult pleas are bravely met and wisely, overcome his purpose are seasonably planted and they bloom and they bring forth fruit, which does not fall prematurely to the ground thought. Allied fearlessly to purpose becomes creative force.

He who knows this is ready to become something higher and stronger than a mere bundle of wavering thoughts and fluctuating sensations. He who does this has become the conscious and intelligent wielder of his mental powers. You know, my story is petty and meaningless, but it's. Just the tip of the iceberg.

That's all it is, is just the tip of the iceberg. And if you look deeper, you'll see that you have to find your purpose and you have to stick with it with desire and don't let doubt and fear creep in. You've got to do, like I did in that 17-second thing, I controlled my thought habits. I do that frequently and often picture this.

I just switched from Kajabi. Uh, 150 blog posts to Squarespace. I love Squarespace so much. I love how it integrates my blog. I love creating content. That is my purpose. And creating a blog on Kajabi is like kindergarten compared to Squarespace because it's just Squarespace has a lot more that goes with it.

And guess what? It's also a lot cheaper. It's a lot less expensive. It's what I needed, but I had to have the signs that showed up and I had to go with the flow. Like I'm talking about in reality, trans surfing. If you're also listening to that podcast episodes on Tuesdays, so thought and purpose. Let me tell you where I came up with this idea for this episode.

I bet you can guess it was Joseph Rodriguez. His episode. He did talk about this from this book, because he talks about this book a lot. And when he was talking about those petty thoughts, I was like, oh my gosh, I can so relate. And it just gets deeper and deeper and it, it can hurt you. A solution to this is also a mental diet.

A mental diet is just simply becoming aware of the thoughts that you're having and not holding on to the negative thoughts. Just letting them go. Don't dwell on them. You're going to have negative thoughts just don't dwell on them because when you dwell on them, doubt and fear will creep in. They will.

And they are the great enemies of knowledge.

As for a mental diet. I want to add this. If you want a free resource guide on a mental diet, feel free to go on over to www.kathieowen.com/mentaldiet That's a free resource.
